This lightweight, durable therapeutic device is great for chronic joint and muscle pain and for accelerating healing of skin and soft tissue damage (cuts, lacerations, bruises; sprains and strains, small extremity fractures, sports injuries). The approximately 16" x 8" flexible pad contains 120 light emitting diodes (LEDs). Each diode has one (1) 660 nm wavelength emitter and two (2) 850 nm wavelength emitters. That's 120 red light LEDs for tissue healing, and 240 infrared LEDs for deep heating. When combined, they provide fast relief of musculoskeletal aches and pain.
Light at these wavelengths have the property of photobiomodulation, which means it can change the physiology of biological tissue (another example of photobiomodulation is how ultraviolet (UV) light initiates Vitamin D conversion in the skin). With the visible red wavelengths, the effect is a boost in cell signaling, leading to increased circulation, increased ATP production, and an inhibitory effect on the inflammatory process (inflammation), which further reduces pain. Many research studies confirm the photobiomodulating properties of red light. You can actually feel pain dissipate as you use it!
RECOMMENDED USES:
For back pain, place the pad under the affected area (directly on skin) and lie on top of it for 20 minutes, or use the enclosed elastic band to hold in place while you sit.
For extremity pain, wrap it around the affected area (arm, elbow, leg, knee, foot, etc.) and hold it in place by wrapping the included elastic band around it.*
For plantar fasciitis, place the pad on the floor, sit on a chair and place your feet gently on it (the larger 200 LED pad is better for foot treatment).
