This product is perfect for people who have arthritic knees and those who are rehabilitating a knee injury -- an ACL, PCL, MCL or patellar ligament tear or strain, or a meniscal tear/ surgical repair. It can also be used to heal epicondylitis of the elbow (Golfers and Tennis elbow).
Each of the 72 diodes has one (1) 630 nm red light emitter and two (2) 850 nm infrared light (invisible, deep heating wavelength) emitter. The red light wavelength stimulates healing by increasing cell respiration rate (improves cell membrane transport and ATP production) while the infrared wavelength vasodilates the small blood vessels in the painful area and increases blood flow and oxygen delivery to healing tissues; in this case the knee ligament and cartilage structures. Remember, ligaments and cartilage are mostly "non-living" matrix material (proteins and special water-binding molecules) synthesized by special cells called chondrocytes. The idea is to energize those chondrocytes so that they can accelerate repair of the ligaments and cartilage. Red light therapy is one of the few modalities proven to do this; pulsed EMF is another one.
The wrap has a rechargeable battery inside it that can last 4-5 days using the wrap twice a day for 20 minutes. This means you can wear it and go about your daily routine! No more being hooked up to an electrical wall outlet. Wear them under pants and no one will know that you are getting knee treatment!
Like all our LED wraps, it is constructed of hypoallergenic fabric. It has four Velcro straps that allow you to snugly wrap it around the knee. Use it once in the AM and once in the PM, 10-20 minutes each time, for a minimum of four weeks straight for maximum healing.
